How Many Credits Do I Need to Graduate?
You need a total of 100 credits to graduate from high school. Individual courses are either 5 credits (a full semester) or 3 credits (half of a semester). Please review the information below to learn more.
|Alberta High School Diploma: Graduation Requirements|
|To attain an Alberta High School Diploma, a student must meet all requirements listed below. Post-secondary institutions and workplaces may require additional and/or specific courses for entry. Courses in red are not offered by Westmount Charter School, but still count toward the Alberta High School Diploma requirements and will be accepted.|
|A student must have a total of 100 credits with the following criteria:|
| 5 credits in a 30-level English Language Arts course:
(English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2)
| 5 credits in a 30-level Social Studies course:
(Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2)
| 5 credits in a 20-level Mathematics course:
(Mathematics 20-1, 20-2, or 20-3)
| 5 credits in a 20-level Science course:
(Biology 20, Chemistry 20, or Physics 20, Science 20 or Science 24)
|3 credits in Physical Education 10|
|3 credits in Career and Life Management|
| A total of 10 credits, in any combination, from the courses below:
A total of 10 credits, in any combination, in any 30-level courses.
